Day 15: Shop at Urban Thread

15 Jan

The day I discovered Urban Thread was a glorious one indeed. Gainesville-based Urban Thread sells catalog returns and excess inventory from clothing stores Anthropologie, J. Crew, Urban Outfitters and Free People. That means they sell practically new, hip clothes at big discounts. They have two Tallahassee locations, one on Monroe Street that carries primarily Free People and Urban Outfitters and caters to a younger crowd, and another on Market Street in Northeast Tallahassee that carries Anthropologie and J. Crew and skews a bit older. Their clothes are very well organized by style and size and easy to quickly peruse. It’s not just for women. They also have clothes for men at the Monroe Street location. My only suggestion would be to shop during weekdays when it is less busy and take the time to find out from the store employees when they expect to receive new inventory.

Address: 1318 N. Monroe Street or 1410 Market Street

Thanks for doing this blog- I have lived here 13 years and I have never done some of the things you have already done. I moved to Tallahassee to work in the political process. I ended up staying,I re-married and raised my son here. It is now home but you have inspired me to get to know my adopted city better.I hope you grow to love Tallahassee as much as I have.

This place is the worst! The employees may be sweet girls, but there are never any smalls or mediums. Everything I picked up was broken or had torn seams. It has the worst selection of clothing from urban outfitters. I don’t understand this business model. Purchase all the ugliest clothing from urban and then try to sell it in the store.
