Day 47: Throw darts at Palace Saloon

16 Feb

The Palace Saloon is one of those bars with a bare-bones decor of beer posters, darts, pool tables, wood-paneled walls and a floor that has seen its share of spilled beer from plastic cups. Because of its proximity to Florida State University, it is definitely popular with college students, but at other times has a more diverse mix of everyday Tallahasseans. They’ve got a dozen electronic dart boards, and on the night my husband and I went we had no trouble finding one to play on. Apparently I’m the last person on Earth to discover “fancy electronic dart boards,” so I thought we had stumbled upon some new-fangled invention. It costs about a dollar per game, and we had so much fun playing we quickly ran through $5 playing. Naturally, my husband beat me 4 times out of 5. You can also pick songs from a nearby jukebox, which may have contributed to the rather interesting mix of boy bands (Backstreet Boys) and punk songs (Blink 182) from the 1990s.
