Day 158: Sip wine at the Wine Loft

7 Jun

If you’re in the mood for a sophisticated happy hour try the Wine Loft. Located in Tallahassee’s Midtown neighborhood, the Wine Loft is what it sounds like – a wine bar. It is actually a chain, which surprised me because it has the look and feel of a more unique concept. It has two levels, an upstairs and downstairs, with each decorated in modern decor and dark hues. The menu offers a nice variety of quality wines. My husband ordered the pinot noir from Santa Barbara, a red with oak tones that cost about $8 a glass. That was one of the least expensive wines on the menu. They also offer some food items, such as a wide selection of cheeses and other gourmet appetizers. The night we went to the Wine Loft its clientele was dominated by what can only be described as “middle-aged lesbians.” Other times I’ve been it has offered a more diverse and young crowd. It’s also a popular spot for groups to meet because it is quiet enough to hear people talk. What it isn’t is a college hot spot. You will generally find a slightly older crowd with fatter wallets at the Wine Loft. They open until about 11 p.m. on weeknights and 2 a.m. on the weekends.
